Educational Workshops 2012: Diagnosis and treatment of skin and soft tissue infections

Diagnosis and treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
October – December 2012
Various locations across the UK

These increasingly popular workshops, jointly hosted by the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC), Healthcare Infection Society (HIS) and British Infection Association (BIA) are open to microbiologists, infectious disease consultants, scientists, pharmacists, infection control specialists and other interested health professionals working in the areas of infection prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

The topic this year was the Diagnosis and treatment of skin and soft tissue infections. The workshops were informed in part by the new Guidelines for the investigation, control and prevention of spread of group A streptococcal (GAS) infection in acute healthcare settings which were published in January. Although they do not cover diagnosis and treatment of GAS, these evidence based guidelines are intended to assist local infection control, occupational health and health protection teams in managing single cases and clusters in acute care settings.

The workshops are open to microbiologists, infectious disease consultants, scientists, pharmacists, infection control specialists and other interested health professionals working in the areas of infection prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
