Management of Hospital Infection: Web based teaching resource

Management of Hospital Infection is a web-based self-teaching resource aimed at ensuring those responsible for prescribing, select the correct antimicrobial at appropriate doses to increase the chance of cure while limiting the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

It is well known that limiting resistance depends on correct diagnosis and, in many cases, on the appropriate use of empirical therapy while culture and sensitivity results are awaited.

The educational package has a modular format and is divided into therapy areas by body system. Within each body system the most common and/or serious infections are listed in the navigator and subdivided into introduction, aetiology, diagnosis, management and prevention.

Individual infections can also be accessed in other ways including hospital department and A-Z index.  The programme also contains support information relevant to a wide range of situations.

Management of Hospital Infection is freely available to all health professionals through this website.
